A Rose Growing from Concrete

As part of Penn State's Art Education program, I took a course called "Visual Culture and Educational Technologies." In this class we worked with many different types of new technologies and talked about ways to integrate them into the art classroom.

This is an animation I created using Adobe Flash CS6. The subject of my animation was inspired by one of my favorite lectures, "Educators: Hope is Required When Growing Roses in Concrete, Jeff Duncan-Andrade."

You can watch the lecture here:

#ProjectHappinessPSU

For one of my art education classes we were required to do a "culture jamming" project and document it and post it on social media.

Culture jamming is a tactic that contemporary artists have been using to take a stand against social conformity.

I decided to do this for my culture jam after seeing so many images circulating online of people leaving mean notes on strangers cars because of bad park jobs or other reasons.

I decided to make the envelope look like the Penn State parking ticket envelope to challenge people's initial assumptions of common imagery.

In the video I mention that I only got feedback from four people however, after sharing this video, I got a ton more feedback on my project.

Stop Motion Animation

This is a stop-motion video I created in my beginning drawing class.
